The Dalmatian is medium-sized dog breed, famous for its white coat spotted with black or brown markings. Mainly used as a carriage dog in its early days. Today, it is a popular family pet and many dog enthusiasts enter Dalmatians into kennel club competitions. The breed remains friendly with horses and modern day field trials still test the abilities of the Dal to perform these duties. The Dalmatian is an excellent watchdog, alert to everything going on around him. Dalmatians get along well with other dogs or household pets, though it is should be socialized as a puppy if possible.
